2004 Menorquin 130 Pilot House Coastal Cruiser

“Tortuga Blanca” is a beautiful, low engine hour, USA specification example of this 43’ Spanish-built coastal cruiser popular in the Mediterranean. The yacht’s design and build quality echo the history and elegance of the Balearic Island’s traditional fishing boats. The brand is known for gorgeous nautical lines, high quality craftsmanship and comfort underway in many sea conditions.

Tortuga has spent most of her life in the Chesapeake Bay area with travel down the ICW into Florida waters and various trips along the east coast. She has been reimagined and refitted with emphasis on increased safety, comfort, and cruising capabilities. Tortuga is currently berthed in Brunswick, Georgia and well-staged for the beginning of a 2024 Great Loop adventure for the next owner. This is a very comfortable, easy-to-handle couple’s cruiser and liveaboard ready to go now!

Key highlights & improvements:

Considerable thought, time, talent, and treasure have been expended on the initial acquisition and subsequent refit of this fine yacht. Engines and generator have fresh oil and filters. Majority of the exterior woodwork has been stripped and re-varnished as part of a recent March/April Spring 2024 refit block. Accommodations

Over the past two years she has been reimagined and then thoughtfully refitted with emphasis on increased safety, comfort, and cruising capabilities.

  • The old helm bench seat and bulky cabinet were removed and replaced with a custom LLEBROC cream leather captain’s chair with comfort adjustments including fore and aft travel, seat backrest angle, movable arm rests, lumbar air bladder, and chair swivel as well as the ability to act as a standing back bolster when preferred for docking or other maneuvers.
  • New Sunbrella fabric cushions in navy blue with white piping replaced the original pilothouse and salon materials.
  • Mattresses were replaced and new comfortable bedding added.
  • Two new Hella multi-speed 12v fans were mounted in the pilothouse forward overhead, outboard to port and starboard to improve air flow throughout.
  • Recent hot and cold pressure water-related improvements include new head shower fixtures with a multi-setting spray head, metal supply hose, and a modern thermostatic water mixing valve with built-in temperature sensing. The valve automatically mixes the cold and hot water to the desired output water temperature (standard setting is 100 degrees) and prevents shower temperature surprises.
Galley
  • New GE convection oven, air fryer, microwave unit was added to the galley in 2024.
  • New Moen one-handle high arc pulldown sprayer kitchen faucet.
  • Electric 3-burner stovetop provides plenty of meal prep capacity.
  • There are two 12v undercounter refrigerators.
  • YETI 65 cooler is generally used for additional dry goods storage, yet can be used to complement the 12vdc/120vac DOMETIC fridge/freezer and the two 12v undercounter units onboard or taken ashore to keep drinks cool.

Navigation Systems

Navigation technology updates feature new Garmin electronics

  • GMR Fantom 24x white, 50-watt transmit, 48 mile radar with MotionScope target color painting.
  • AIS 800 yacht identification system significantly increases your situational awareness and safety.
  • GNX wind display and gWind Wireless 2 transducer.

A new NMEA 2000 yacht-wide network was installed to share desired data and control over these new instruments with the helm MFD, iPad and iPhone devices.

ActiveCaptain and Navionics software are utilized to provide information from the above systems to iPad and iPhone devices and increases situational awareness from anywhere on the boat. This networked approach also provides the ability to check redundant navigation data and piloting information from Aquamap, WaterwayGuide, BoatUS, DockWa and other subscription data sources.

Deck and Hull
  • New smart LED navigation and anchor lighting was added to the equipment mast replacing the original navigation lighting.
  • A new ACR remote wireless-controlled LED searchlight produces a focused beam out 4,500’ from the boat and replaced the old OEM incandescent unit on the pilothouse roof.
  • New fresh water washdown pump was installed in the engine room as well as a new quick connect, coiled freshwater line added at the bow for cleaning the anchor and chain or for showering at the bow.
Mechanical
  • Over $10K+ was invested in the two Volvo Penta D6 engines with Western Branch Diesel in 2022 and 2023 to bring preventative maintenance current. Work performed in March 2022 included: complete valve adjustments to both engines, replaced oil in engines & transmissions, all oil/fuel/air filters, belts, gaskets and other wear items replaced. In addition, a completely new raw seawater pump was installed on the port engine as well as a new water impeller installed on the starboard engine. Finally, a new rebuilt alternator was installed on the port engine (April 2023).
  • A new, extremely quiet, and efficient VELAIR 16k BTU variable frequency, soft start AC/heating unit was installed last year (May 2023), along with all new ducting, hoses and wiring to supply conditioned air to the large pilot house and second stateroom/utility room. This state-of-the-art AC/heating unit can be set and monitored with the hard-wired control pad in the pilothouse and via an iPad/iPhone digital app as well as monitored remotely via WiFi.
  • Boat was last hauled in December 2023 to enable the installation of new PYI PSS 50mm Dripless Shaft Seals on both engine shafts along with new water feed valves and hoses.
  • During that haulout and refit period Tortuga had all running gear stripped to bare metal with new primer and barrier coat layers applied to the shafts, props, rudders, and support struts. All sacrificial anodes were replaced.
  • She has new Groco NPT ARG water strainers, new hoses and new thru-hull valves installed to feed the forward and rear air conditioner/heating units.
  • Engines and generator have fresh oil and filters.
  • Majority of the exterior woodwork has been stripped and re-varnished as part of a March/April Spring 2024 refit block.
Additional Equipment
  • New LED lighting was added throughout the boat to replace all cabin ceiling lighting, individual fixture lighting, pilothouse and aft deck ceilings cutting 12v power draw by 90% versus the old halogen bulb lighting. The LED refit added dimmability as well as light color options to specific areas of the yacht.
  • New FUSION audio system added in 2023 includes a Fusion head unit at the helm with two Fusion Signature Series 3i marine speakers with CRGBW LED illumination added to the pilothouse and two Signature 3i speakers installed into the salon ceiling. Media selection and audio control occurs via the Fusion helm unit, the Garmin MFD, iPad/iPhone Fusion app, Spotify, or Apple music apps. Guests can be granted access via their smartphones to join in the musical fun!
  • Very quiet DOMETIC CFX3 100 dual-power 12vdc/120vac powered cooler has been installed and is used in freezer or refrigerator mode as needed. This key equipment addition creates significant refrigeration capacity, high efficiency, quiet operation, and flexibility beyond the two original 12v refrigerators located in the salon.
  • New SimpliSafe security and monitoring system provides 24/7 protection with 4 WiFi enabled cameras, CO2 and smoke detectors, bilge water detection, temperature sensors and infrared motion detection. The system is accessed remotely over-the-air via smartphone, iPad and laptop computer apps.
  • Two Xtreme Heaters, approved by the Coast Guard and US Military for engine compartment system protection, were added in the Fall of 2022.
