Engineering –Mechanical, Plumbing

Engine: A single Caterpillar Turbo-charged 3126TA diesel engine of 350 Hp (261kW) at 2800rpm is

fitted. The gearbox is a Twin Disc MG 5061A, which gives a reduction of 2.88:1 and incorporates a 7-

degree down angle.

Stern Gear: A 4-bladed Varifold feathering propeller is connected to the engine via a 2.5” (63mm)

diameter stainless steel propeller shaft, through a S.S. custom fabricated A-bracket and stern gland

fitted with a remote greaser. The Varifold feathers its blades to improve sailing performance. It

eliminates stern gear noise and wear while sailing.

Engine Room: Access is via a hatch by the Nav Station, any other panels are fitted with rubber sealing

strips to minimize noise and are secured by positive catches. The engine room is built of Barrifloor (or

equivalent) sound insulating plywood. The entire area is insulated with a foam and barrier insulation

using 60mm of foam with two layers of high-density polymer sandwiched between it. Two automatic

fire extinguishers are fitted with remote indicator lights.

Bowthruster & Sternthruster: A 300 Lewmar Vertical Retract (30Hp), retractable, hydraulic

bowthruster and sternthruster are fitted, driven off two generators PTO shaft. A hydraulic oil tank is

fitted, giving ample oil reserves as well as providing oil cooling. A generator speed-up solenoid is fitted,

to automatically increase engine RPM when using the thrusters.

Fuel System: Fuel supply is from 2 tanks totaling 925 US gallons.

Bilge Pumping System: The bilges throughout the vessel are limbered into one deep main central bilge

sump.

* Electric bilge pump Par 34600 with Par hydro air switch.

* Henderson MKV manual bilge pump (rated at 135lpm).

* Emergency, engine-driven, 1 1/2' Jabsco bilge pump, with manual clutch, rated to pump

approximately 50 US Gallon/ min (190 litres/min).

* Each bilge pump is fitted with a Whale type strum box of the appropriate size for that suction

line. All suction lines can be lifted to enable debris to be cleared.

Greywater System: Four (4) greywater tanks located in the boat, each fitted with a float switch and a

Whale Gulper pump, giving automatic evacuation of all showers and washbasins. The galley sinks

pump directly overboard, via a Whale Gulper pump activated by a waterproof rocker switch.

Toilet System: Four (4) Sealand electric vacuum toilet systems, each with its own pump and night

switch. Four off polypropylene toilet holding tanks are installed as standard for each of the aft WCs.

Each tank is configured for gravity discharge with additional ability to pump out from on deck. The

tanks are fitted with electric tank capacity gauges.

Freshwater System: Two (2) tanks totaling 793 US gallons (3000 litres). The GRP tanks are treated

with inert gelcoat, fitted with baffles and provided with Polyvent covers as per the fuel tanks. Breathers

are also fitted.

Water Heater System: Hot water is from two insulated 10 US gallon (38 lt) (approximately) tanks

heated by the engine's heat exchanger, or by thermostatically controlled 220v, 2kW immersion heater

elements powered by the generators or dockside power.

Refrigeration

* Twin Frigomatic 24v, water-cooled refrigeration units

* New Refrigerator & Twin the top-opening freezer.

* Frigomatic 24v, keel-cooled refrigerator unit is installed with an evaporator plate to cool the

in excess of Cruisair recommendations.

Electrical Systems

D.C. Electrical System: DC electrical supply is 24v, and a bank of 12 x 6v batteries give 920 Amp

hours (approximately) at 24v for the domestic supply. These batteries are heavy duty, ‘deep-cycle’,

Rolls type. Power from a separate 88 Amp hour (approximately) 24v battery bank is devoted to engine

starting. There is also a separate 88 Amp hour 12v generator starting battery.
